Group to celebrate 75th year in style
Members of the Cranbury Lions Club have wine on their minds.
Before raising glasses in celebration of the club's 75th anniversary, members are asking residents to try their hands at designing a label for the cabernet sauvignon bottles that will be given out as gifts to those who attend the anniversary celebration on June 23, Lions Club President Rick Burke said.
Instead of just giving out souvenirs at the event, the club decided to make its own wine at The Grape Escape Winery in South Brunswick to make the gifts unique. The contest is just an added way to make the wine one of a kind and to let community members get involved with the fun, he said.
"Rather than just purchasing some gift at a shop, we thought crushing and straining the grapes, would be a nice way of giving something we made ourselves back to the attendees," he said.
Cranbury residents over the age of 18 are encouraged to submit designs to the Cranbury Lions Club Wine Label Design Contest before the Oct. 15 deadline. Contestants must also include a catchy name for the wine.
