Candidates talk goals

Three candidates speak about their goals and direction for Cranbury schools.

Three candidates running for three open seats on the Cranbury Board of Education spoke to The Cranbury Press this week about their goals and the direction they hope the district will take during the 2007-2008 school year.

The candidates are Wendi Patella and incumbents Julie Hardaker and Joan Weidner. They are running for thee, three-year seats.

Each candidate shared her views on adding fall field hockey and winter wrestling as new sports at Cranbury School, the state's 4 percent tax levy cap on school budgets, the hiring of a new chief school administrator and other issues facing Cranbury School. Voters will go to the polls April 17 at Town Hall.

Residents can hear more from candidates at the PTO's Candidate's Night at 7 p.m. April 10 in the Large Group Room at Cranbury School.

Ms. Hardaker, 45, of Danser Drive, said she is running for re- election because the board is made up of people who truly care about the students and it's her personal goal to continue working with them for such an important cause. She said her first three-year term has been a positive experience and she hopes a second term will allow her to put that experience to good use.
