From the Cranbury Police Department:
The Cranbury Township Police Department announces the following public information to better understand how to interact with and how to have a safe encounter when stopped by a police officer.
Safe Stop NJ was initiated by the NJ State Attorney General and is administered through the NJ Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ). The recently released program allows a citizen to visit a website that he or she may navigate to, watch a few short videos and take a pledge that they have watched the videos and understand how to have a safe stop for everyone involved.
Upon completion, the individual then has an option to receive a "Safe Stop" decal which they can place on the lower left side of their vehicle's rear window, which alerts law enforcement of their pledge. For further information click on or go to www.safestopnj.com
The Cranbury Township Police Department wishes everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year! |

This is excellent. I hope people will do this. I am going to have my kids do it. I already had the registration and insurance moved to the visor. I figure with the lights on and the officer next to me it will make them feel safer. I also did it because while I don't fear the police I do fear being stopped on the side of the turnpike with cars flying past 80mph and many of those on cell phones. In college a student was killed while sitting in their car and a distracted driver rear ending them. The driver was tuning the radio I read later and swerved accidentally into the car. It is why I always get out if I can and stand way off to the side while waiting for AAA. |
