This part is not true. Blaming the status of that lot or project on Covid has no basis in reality. There were supply chain delays for a while but that wouldn't have impacted a project that hasn't even gotten planning approval yet and those delays have mostly ended before now. There has been no Covid delays in the ability to hire people for demolition, at least not since late 2020) or project planning and design or to getting projects through the local zoning or planning boards.
Whatever the reason it has taken the owner so long to proceed with the project can't be blamed on Covid. My guess would be insurance dispute. |

The building can be torn down prior to PB approval in a case like this one. The zoning code has violations for broken windows, roofs, etc... but the town requires a complaint be filed. No complaint, no issue, no fines. I would imagine the owner(s) do not want to incur the several thousand dollars to tear down a building when there is no income coming to cover the cost. The insurance liability premium is likely much less to absorb. |
