I remember thinking what is now the old Cranbury school building was the biggest building around - the library was in the basement, 8th graders were the big kids, the windows were wide open during hot school days, 3rd grade was Mrs. Stackhouse, and during recess, we played dodge ball |

Harold's, Mid-Atlantic bank where people cared to answer questions and be helpful, music on the lake while ice skating, wide open fields on both ends of town and seeing farming inside of town. Being able to look at the clock see it was 4pm and run out for a gallon of paint, pick up a prescription and get a gallon of milk all by walking to town. |

I miss Harolds !!!Archie comic books, ice cream cones and penny candy after school. I also miss the ice skating on the lake, and the easiness of having a downtown shopping area - hardware store, drugstore, couple of places to get some groceries ( who were those old sisters that ran a store near Harolds?) |

What memories...
The old ladies must have been the Stahl's. their house and store was where the 1st Con bank is now--it was classic americana, even more charm then Harold's, what i would give to have it in place now and not a 70s style imitation colonial bank facade..... |

I'm still new here >15yrs but I do enjoy the ice-skating on lake. And remember the Hardware store also before it closed. But I do like the new changes in our town since I've been here
I love the new places to eat, the two new Ice-cream places, Pizza and Hanna/Massons is great. Gas station became a dance studio that's fun to visit. and Driving through our town this year I've noticed a considerable increase in walking traffic and people enjoying the downtown area.
I'm glad we killed the PNC buyout, because it should be turned into a great restaurant so the trend can continue and new memories made. Teddy's place could use a facelift, but I do like going there too.
And I still love visiting the farms in Cranbury. Picking Blackberries, strawberries, tomatoes and at XMAS getting my tree is a 5min drive but we take an hour just enjoying that time of year. The old witch on the Stultz farm barn during Halloween is fun to see on way home from work. Cranbury day talking with my neighbors. And walking the path from Brainerd lake along the Cranbury stream, also fun for cross country skiing when we have some snow. And the Town meetings are a good way to connect back and give back. I love this place and its only gotten better for me in the last 15yrs. |
