10:00a - 12:00p

The U.S. men's basketball team missed out on an Olympic gold medal in 2004. Now the newest "Dream Team" tries to become the "Redeem Team," and its journey begins with a preliminary-round contest against host nation China - and its oversized national hero Yao Ming of the Houston Rockets (LIVE ET/CT).

12:00p - 1:00p

Men's and women's preliminary rowing heats continue from Shunyi Park, and the grueling 78-mile women's cycling road race sweeps through historic Beijing. Plus, Team USA plays China in men's water polo opening-round action.

1:00p - 4:00p

More from women's cycling, where riders are racing nearly 80 miles of road in pursuit of gold. Also, the U.S. beach volleyball team of Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal take on Dutch duo Emiel Boersma and Bram Ronnes in an early-round match.

4:00p - 6:00p

The culmination of the women's cycling road race, in which the top female riders tour - and endure - nearly 80 miles of Beijing streets in pursuit of Olympic medals. Also, more swimming as competitors try to advance from qualifying heats in several men's and women's distances.

7:00p - 10:00p

Michael Phelps swims in the men's 200m free semifinal, where he is heavily favored, and in the men's 4x100m free relay final, for perhaps his second gold medal in as many days. The Americans have other medal contenders in the women's 400m free (Baltimore’s Katie Hoff) and men's 100m breast (world-record holder Brendan Hansen). Also, five-time Olympic medalist Natalie Coughlin swims in the semifinal of her best event, the 100m back (LIVE ET/CT). Plus, a first look at the U.S. women's Olympic gymnastics team, led by teens Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin, and the first diving gold medals of the Games (women's springboard synchro).
