My first child will be entering Kindergarten at the Cranbury School. I saw they're supposed to bring a little pillow and mat of some sort. Is this really nap time where they're supposed to sleep? (My son hasn't napped since he was 2!) Or just a "quiet time" of laying down? Any idea how long it is?

Also, what kind of mat or whatever do people usually get? Is it something I can pick up at Bed, Bath and Beyond or a place like that?

Thanks for any insight into what to do and expect!!

It looks like you missed the kindergarten orientation for parents. that's ok. There is a "Newcomer's Welcome" to be held on 9/5 (Tuesday) from 1:00pm to 3:00 in the Cranbury school.

Yup, a little pillow and a small blanket are good. I believe your son will adapt quickly with the other kids in the class.

If your son will be taking the school bus, you can accompany him on the first day of school, so that he won't get lost or scared. Regardless, I believe the parents can accompany their kindergarteners to the classroom in the first few days. After that, it's a good idea for them to be independent.

I still remember the day my daughter attending her very first day in the Cranbury school. I was so worried that she might not take the same school bus home!
