Fundraising figures big in Cranbury

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and two groups of women in town are doing their best to eradicate the disease.

First is a group of seven Cranbury women who will walk to fight breast cancer as team "Cranbury Cares" in the 2006 New York Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. On Oct. 7 and 8, Debbie Bond, Lisa Coniglione, Suzanne Gross, Karen Izzo, Noel Kinney, Cheryl McCormick and Jennifer Petruso will walk "for past, present and future generations of women."

Team Cranbury Cares encourages everyone in town to get involved by donating. Simply go to www.avonwalk.org, click on "Donate," then on "Donate to a Participant," followed by New York 2006. By entering Cranbury Cares in the team search, you will be able to donate to the group and see how close they are to reaching their goal of $35,000.

Also, the Cranbury Area Mom's Club invites all Cranbury residents to join in supporting local mom, Elena Miller, in the fight against breast cancer by running or walking on Elena's Team at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on the morning of Sunday, Oct. 29. The event takes place at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Route 206 and Provinceline Road in Princeton.
