Does anyone else have stink bugs in their house and all over their yard? I have found tons in the house and I don't know what to do about getting rid of them. Any suggestions are welcomed!

catch them and throw them outside. They go away soon - they're seasonal.

Speaking of bug invasions...can anyone recommend a good, honest exterminator in the area?

We had a termite problem a couple of years ago. We ended up using Viking (www.vikingpest.com) after getting some outrageous quotes from Terminix, Orkin, etc. They were a fraction of the cost for the exact same service. Most importantly, we don't have termites any more.

We've used cooper, freehold and arrow. We've been most comfortable with arrow and they've been the least expensive. Carpenter ants, powder post beetles, regular ants and silverfish is what we've had at one point or another. The powder post were the worst.

I have used Arrow for over 15 years 609-254-8411 is the office number. I find Robbie to be VERY responsive to emergency call outs..usually comes same day or within 24 hours. This guy is amazing! He is great with kids and pets. Very careful about spraying, etc.

Here is what I have learned....they LOVE cotton fabric that is stacked and not frequently used, like table linens or jeans. I found them loving my jeans more than me....so I opened the window, got rid of them and then washed the jeans....

They LOVE to hang out where no one sees them like behind pictures hanging on the walls....so check behind the pictures, open the window and throw them outside. I also then sprayed the areas with alcohol to kill any eggs they may have left.

DO NOT squash them, the smell they leave attracts other stink bugs, not to mention it's not a nice smell. I'm open to any other ideas for getting rid of these interesting pests.

I found them on the back side of drapes, in baskets with stuffed animals, behind furniture, and along just about every window sill. I have 'captured' them and flushed many. Didn't feel like putting them outside to just return to my house. Hopefully with the frost we won't see many more.

Thanks to everyone for your help!

Making a stink
Move over, ladybugs -- there's a new invader on the home front. It's the brown marmorated stink bug, creeping its way into houses this fall in search of a cozy place to spend the winter.

An Asian native, it was first found in the United States in 1996, when it was discovered in Allentown, Pa. Within three years, it had spread to an area ranging from New York south to Virginia and west to Ohio.

The new pest eats vegetation, which worries farmers. But as homeowners in Hunterdon and Monmouth -- and counties in between -- have learned, it's also a nuisance indoors. It doesn't bite or damage structures, but if you squish it, it releases an unpleasant odor.

A better method of control is to vacuum them up, or sweep them onto something and return them to the outdoors. Common insecticides generally don't phase them, so spare yourself a chemical blast.
