I may be stupid...but.......why would someone throw out gasoline?
kerosene?
Does it go bad?
Why does bottled water have an expiration date?
Why does yogurt have an expiration date?
Isn't yogurt just milk that has gone bad?
Does yogurt go good after a while?

Gasoline does start to breakdown unless you have put in something to stablize it over the winter. It starts to gum up. I had a boat and winterized the gas to prevent this. The other alternative is to drain the tank, but then it could get water vapors inside and cause more problems. So I fill the tank and winterize it.

The other issue is whether you have pre-mixed two cycle gas and no longer have the equipment to use it. You can't take the oil/gas combo and put it into a car.

Do me a favor and eat 6 month old yogurt past the expiration date and let me know how you feel. Either you'll be tripping or be sick. Let me know you're experience.

Allegedly due to the breakdown of the chemincals in the plastic bottles. But that's probably a myth with the real reason being they want to force people to buy more water...

Just pour the expired water on your lawn. If expired water becomes potentially toxic, then it will be banned already.
