As you may have already read in the newspaper, one of or families is in need of our support! Dawn Maisano, mother of twin middle school boys and wife to Frank, has been diagnosed with Myelofibrosis, a scarring of the bone marrow. The scarring is preventing her marrow from functioning properly and an urgent transplant is needed. While the doctors are already searching the bone marrow registry to find a match for Dawn, we are hoping you will join us to register for the National Marrow Registry to see if you are a match for her or another person in need.

What to bring: Just show up or download the attached paperwork that can be filled out in advance.

Registration is easy ~ simply fill out registration paperwork and take a swab of your mouth. From there your information is catalogued in the National Marrow Registry to see if you are match for Dawn or another person in need. Your information is kept confidential and you are contacted only if you are a match for a person in need of a transplant. At anytime you can remove your name from the registry and you are always in control of whether or not you would like to donate.

HOW ELSE CAN YOU HELP?

1. Help get the word out! You are welcome to send this email to all of your friends and families or hang the attached flyer in places of businesses OUTSIDE of Cranbury. Please note we are avoiding placing flyers in the town of Cranbury to allow her boys a normal day-to-day experience.

2. Consider making a monetary gift to Dawn & Frank Maisano. Dawn is being treated in NYC for more than 100 days. Travel in and out of the city, overnight stays and after transplant housing will be very expensive. Any donations received will be used to offset these costs and any other expenditures that may arise.

3. Consider making a monetary donation to the National Marrow Registry in honor of Dawn. Donations received will help offset the cost of processing bone marrow registration kits, education, and supporting future patients.
