Storm update from Mayor Cook

Dear Residents,

We understand many homes are without power after Hurricane Sandy. Since Tuesday morning we have been working with PSE&G to get our power restored as soon as possible.

As of noon today we do not have any updates on when the areas without power in Cranbury will be restored. Once information becomes available we will alert residents.

We are also at this time sending public works crews through the town to do chipping. We kindly ask for your help to ensure we can do this efficiently and as quickly as possible. When placing branches please place them so the they are parallel to the curb and face the flow of traffic.

The cut end should be considered the face. That is from our code. So if the truck pulls alongside I understand it the cut end would face the same direction as the driver.

Oh boy, I got a violation notice for my branches not facing the flow of traffic. I also have no idea what this means.

If what you just said is true, the code should say, "The cut-end of the branches should face away from oncoming traffic, so that the branches can easily be loaded into the chipper cut-end first".

I agree! "face the flow of traffic" is certainly not definitive. But wouldn't the cut ends face TO oncoming traffic. In other words, if the truck pulls up next to your pile, the pile should be able to be picked up and put into the chipper cut end first?
