An "unavailable" number kept calling so I finally decided to answer. I was told by a "Microsoft" representative that they were receiving feedback from my computer that could be harmful to my computer and anyone I emailed. They wanted me to go to the computer so they could walk me through some steps to resolve the problem. Since the call came mid-day, they were hopeful of getting an older person who knew nothing about computers. Maybe 1/2 right, but not stupid! Once I said she had to be kidding, and she really didn't expect me to fall for this, she just said " OK, OK, OK." By the way, she did not have a mid west accent. If you have an senior citizen in the family, you might pass the word.

I had a similar experience a few weeks ago.

I got a call from a guy with Indian accent telling me that they detected viruses in my Windows PC, and he could help me fix it. I knew it is was a scam, but I played along to see what he wanted me to do. Smile

He asked me to go to this website

www dot ammyy dot com

download a program call "Ammyy Admin", and installed it on my PC (don't do it).

If you search for "ammyy scam," you will see similar incidents. For example:
