State law governs certain positions when they are paid and how much of an increase they get. This could be why some are getting raises 1/1. |

Interesting. So the amount of increase these positions receive along with their effective date is not up to the local Governing body to determine? |

The amount is, but if the salary increase level is 3% then these positions must get 3%. They have to receive the highest increase with the sole exception of someone being promoted.
Have to love nj. |

Yeah NJ, lovin it! So why do the other positions on the ordinance not get the same respect with the 1/1/17 effective date? |

Not sure you'd say respect is the right word unless your a township employee. As a taxpayer, I like that they make salaries effective when the budget is adopted. My own salary goes into effect April 1.
What if an employee resigns in March? Would they be entitled to retroactive pay? If the employees are all given retro pay then they could claim they'd be entitled to that money I would think since they filled the position. |

These are salary ranges. Employees fit within these slots. This is not personal individual employee data for every worker. |
