Maybe we should build a community center rather than a library:

The library is open 4 hours all weekend. That's ridiculous.

That's four more hours than necessary. School and camp are not in session on weekends.

This is a really good assessment below. It is remarkable how the Library Board & Foundation are managing to cook their books in a shell game with these funds. It all makes sense when you realize the Library Board VP does this for a living. It is remarkable that nearly 500 people have been deceived by this project.

Something else to consider - The foundation has collected nearly $1.5M in donations but only four people account for $750K. In my opinion, this does not appear to be overwhelming support from the community. The foundation has done a great job raising funds and developing a project, but they really need to see the writing on the wall. This is way too much to spend for something that the other 3000 members of the community do not see as a necessity.

This chart linked here from the Foundation is a little hard to follow but may show some of the picture:

http://www.cranburylibraryfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/funds-chart.jpg

The library has collected $1,496,523 in pledges
They have spent $160,738 already to an architect
They have $1,806,759 in cash on hand
The total cash and architect spending totals $1,967,497
That is almost $500,000 over the amount collected in pledges
There were probably other expenses during the years of the Foundation
Is this difference the $600,000 in money already taken from the operating budget?
There is also a line stating $419,702 as Library Funds Reserved for construction of a new library
Is this another more money taken from the budget, reducing services to the people, totally over $1 Million to service a new library.
The way this is looking, the library has collected in pledges less than half the funds necessary for a new library which is greater than $3 Million

A full and open disclosure of the funding would be welcome.
