When is the Township or County going to take action on the former Cranbury Swim Club? It's been reported by many residents since this spring that the new owner has not maintained the site and allowed the pools to fill up with stagnant water that is a breeding ground for mosquitos. The Township alerted the County but nothing has happened. I’m sure they wrote a stern letter, if that, to the absentee owner who promptly ignored it. Now, predictably, the area is going crazy with mosquitos that have migrated to the nearly residential developments.
If the owner, who bought the property for a song under false pretense, is not going to maintain or improve the site which has become a blight, the Township has the responsibility to condemn the site and reclaim it in the interest of public safety. |

How many thousands of dollars would condemnation cost? Then what would the town do with it?
No one wanted this property. |

The bottom line is the Health Department needs to issue a summons just like they did with those dog licence objectors. Judge Hermann will straighten it out and I can assure you the property will be maintained as per code. The township needs to be sure properties that are off MAIN STREET comply with rules as well! |

No actions are taken by the Health Department unless Mr. Johnson authorizes those actions. The Township Committee oversees the Health Department and the liasion and the Township Administrator are responsible for the actions of the Health Department.Without their OK nothing will get done. |

The health department is a legal entity just like the zoning officer and police department. The TC has no bearing on health enforcement. The issue is whether the health department has a legal right to enter the property and cite a violation. |

This thread is an attempt to hide the truth about the library
http://cranbury.info/viewtopic.php?p=29585#29585
This chart linked here from the Foundation is a little hard to follow but may show some of the picture:
http://www.cranburylibraryfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/funds-chart.jpg
The library has collected $1,496,523 in pledges
They have spent $160,738 already to an architect
They have $1,806,759 in cash on hand
The total cash and architect spending totals $1,967,497
That is almost $500,000 over the amount collected in pledges
There were probably other expenses during the years of the Foundation
Is this difference the $600,000 in money already taken from the operating budget?
There is also a line stating $419,702 as Library Funds Reserved for construction of a new library
Is this another more money taken from the budget, reducing services to the people, totally over $1 Million to service a new library.
The way this is looking, the library has collected in pledges less than half the funds necessary for a new library which is greater than $3 Million
A full and open disclosure of the funding would be welcome. |

The Township has known about the health hazard at the former Swim Club for many months. They said they would alert the county then they washed their hands of it. Nothing has been done. They are responsible for their citizens of this town. They either need to work harder to get the county to act or act themselves. The threat is immediate. It's already here.
The purchaser of the property made a commit to do something with the site and lied. Whatever the reasons, he is responsible to maintain the site and if he refuses the Township is responsible for forcing him to or removing the property from his care. |

Please show proof that the county health department is not trying to work this out?
This is private property and the county cannot just walk on. Just like they cannot just walk onto my property or yours without legal cause to do so. For all any of us know the county is working those legal issues. |

Condidering the Zika Virus threat they can in fact enter the property. The Health Officer needs to issue a summons and notify Middlesex County Mosquito Control. Over the years numerous summons have been issued for this type of violation. The County has even issued warnings of potential violations ie; flower pots and tires not being stacked properly thus having the potential to breed mosquitoes if filled with rain water. The power lies with the HEALTH DEPARTMENT, but the township pays the Health Department for providing the "service". If the town can't get the job done the next step is to contact the County Health Department directly. |

The proof that they have not worked this out is the massive pools still full of stagnant water with hordes of mosquitoes amassed around it almost six months after it was first reported to local officials. Whatever they are or are not "trying," they are not succeeding.
If they are so impotent and powerless to prevent a fundamental health hazard what is their plan B to deal with the mosquitoes?
Who has spoken to the owner? What actions have been taken to compel the owner to maintain basic public safety on the site he acquired? |

How do you know the pools are full of water? Are you trespassing on someone's property to look in their pools?? As for the mosquitos "isn't there a stream that runs thru the property and a river near by that breed mosquitos also???? |

You can see the water through the chain fence and various people have flown over with drones. The health department has inspected and seen it as well. The issue isn't if it's a problem but why it hasn't been fixed yet and why the owner has abandoned care for the site and isn't being held accountable. Streams are not stagnant water which is a greater breeding ground for mosquitos. |

Can the town confiscate the site and use it to place a library on it? |
