Cranbury has an excellent Public Works Department. One of the great services they provide is chipping tree branches. That service keeps that debris out of our yards and streets and keeps the town looking well kept. One thing many folks don't understand is the huge problem created for public works that really makes their job twice or three times as hard. That problem is the improper placement of that yard debris. In order for the chipper operators to be safe and operate efficiently the branches need to be placed properly at the street curb. Proper placement means having the branches parallel to the road with the large end of the branch facing the direction of the traffic. By placing the branches in that manner you aid the lifting operation and help to keep the operator safe from kick-backs. By just piling the debris every which way it makes the chipper operator have to untangle the branches or just hope he can manage to get them in the machine without damage to himself or the machine. --Lets give our guys a hand for a job well done and help them, to help us, keep Cranbury nice and neat---

Very true. Proper placement will help a lot.

The unfortunate part is that we will get another 12-18 inches tomorrow. And a lot of branches are piled up on sidewalks and sides of roads, which will make snow removal more challenging and will surely spread debris around on the streets.

It would be good to pull them off the streets wherever possible for tomorrow

The cut ends should face the flow of traffic that means. Looking at the front of your house from the street the cut ends should be facing left. Which is flow of traffic on your side of the street.
