Dear Neighbors,

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break.

At last night’s Township Committee meeting, we received an update from the Shade Tree Commission chair Kathy Easton who gave a report on the great work of the team of volunteers who recently completed a shade tree audit of all trees on rights-of-way around town. We are lucky to have such a dedicated group of volunteers who “speak for the trees” in our town.

We also heard from Chief of Police Michael Owens, who gave an update on the excellent work our police are doing, including almost 3000 traffic stops so far in 2023, a 50% increase over 2022. We are very fortunate to have police officers who are excellent partners in our community.

We also received kudos from a member of the public about our amazing DPW team and how they’re doing an excellent job keeping up with leaves and brush around town.

CONGRATULATIONS to sixteen-year-old Cranbury resident Kristopher Gittens, who was honored as a civilian hero by the town of West Windsor last night. In March, as his family celebrated his birthday at a restaurant in West Windsor, his father suffered a massive heart attack. Utilizing his CPR training from his lifeguard program, Kristopher sprang into action, placed his father on the floor and performed CPR on his father for over 10 minutes, saving his live. We are proud and happy to honor this young man's quick thinking and heroism!
