Post subject: CRANBURY: Second Cranbury board member resigns
CRANBURY – The Cranbury Board of Education is losing another member this month.
According to Joyce Picariello, business administrator for the school district, board member Nicole Pormilli resigned her post effective Aug. 31.
The board will officially accept Ms. Pormilli’s resignation at the Aug. 21 public meeting, according to President, Lynne Schwarz.
Ms. Pormilli, who was just re-elected in April and is currently serving her second term, was hired to be the assistant superintendent in the South Plainfield School District, according to Ms. Picariello.
”We would like to offer our congratulations to Nicole for her new job and thank her for her wisdom and effort during her years on the Board of Education,” Ms. Picariello said.
Ms. Pormilli said she will no longer be able to invest the amount of time necessary for her to be a full participating member of the board with the change in jobs.
”Additionally, to avoid any appearance of conflict, I felt it best to resign,” Ms. Pormilli said. “I will miss being part of a team that thinks deeply about what is best for all students.”
Ms. Pormilli is the second board member to resign in the past several months.
Former board member Kathy Wasson submitted her resignation in June because her family is moving to South Carolina.
