This makes no sense whatsoever. If they are paying a bill or getting it for "free" what difference would it make. Either way the taxpayer is paying for it.
If the school was getting a bill where does that money to pay the bill come from??? Think about it ! |
I wish people would think before responding with attitude and being wrong! We pay on a hookup basis not on who owns buildings and there are two parts fixed and usage. So let's use some math.
1) Since there is a fixed cost spread across all sewer users then it should include Municipal buildings as well as if they were normal businesses. Otherwise, we're exempting them and their costs are then rolled into the fixed costs from those on sewer and sewer and non-sewer users pay the usage part of the sewer. So sewer users would therefore pay a higher cost than non-sewer users right off the bat.
2) If the cost of the municipal buildings fixed cost is part of their sewer bill it is then spread out among all residents. Which means we all share equally.
If Municipal buildings are exempted from the fixed cost then the fee they would have had to pay has to be paid from somewhere, which means sewer users pay a higher cost to cover the costs that municipal buildings do not pay.
3) So, if municipal buildings are not exempted then the fixed part of the users sewer bill is reduced.
The overall effect is that the taxes paid to cover the share of municipal sewers is less than the fixed cost of what the sewer bill would be if sewer users were the only ones paying for these buildings. |

The residents never paid for sewer it was a thread here that was misleading. According to the discussion at the TC meeting the sewer was offset by businesses coming on line to pay for the connection fees.
I do hope though that school and municipal buildings are paying the fixed rate and that their costs are shared across town. I do hope that residents on sewer are not fully supporting their use. |

Please remember that households that are on septic systems will no longer have to pay for a sewer system they dont use. That will result in a tax cut for them. The system users (myself included) will have an increase in fees. Its only fair |
