No one is saying Sec. 8 is bad. No one is saying these families are African American, Asian or Caucasian, perhaps they all are Caucasian. <br /> <br />What the above posts are saying at a minimum the town should receive COAH credit for these rooms being rented. They should not be exempt from the COAH numbers. <br /> <br />The new hotel if it goes in will represent more issues and present a tax issue. <br /> <br />No one is also mentioning the fact that these families are in hotels. Not apartments, but hotels. So there is a danger issue for the families and kids, because there is no control over who rents a room next door to this family. If someone with a record or on a predator list were to rent a room that is fine and legal. However, that family unknowingly now has a real risk next to them. Let's make Cranbury a rough and tumble place to prepare our kids for the "real world". It is never to early to get started whipping those little b@stards into shape. In fact, why bother sending them to Princeton at all. I'll bet we could save a lot of money by sending them to the new $185 million HS in New Brunswick. What's the down side? It's called Darwinism. The developer has proposed the height and size to be just big enough to allow them to circumvent the rules regarding liquor licenses. My buddy owns a restaurant in NJ and hates hotels because above a certain size they are automatically granted a liquor license. They don't have to bid for them. So what happens is a hotel will be built a certain size that allows for a liquor license. After all, this project is not on main street, it is mixed in with two other hotels and a business district. <br /> <br />Now lets talk revenue, the amount of money any project of this size can only impact our local economy and business many times over in a very positive way. This is a Hyatt, not a rent by the hour hotel. The people who generally stay in a Hyatt are Upper middle to upper class. I would think they would be people who are visiting their well to do Cranbury relatives, staying for business (spending company money) or here for a class reunion at one of our Universities. These people will walk our streets, spend money at are our local restaurants, our last clothing store, our TWO ice cream parlors, our pizza shop and our Chinese restaurant that certainly NEEDS the money. <br /> <br />Saying all of that, I will hold my judgment until I do actually see the plans.
