In the eyes of the government, "marriage" is a contract. Perhaps, from a government perspective, all "marriages" should be "civil unions" or "civil contracts" to distinguish them from the religiously connoted "marriage". <br /> <br />Also, shouldn't any two consenting adults be able to enter into a contract, such as marriage, of their own free will? <br /> <br />Brothers & Sisters? Fathers and Sons? I personally believe marriage is a religious commitment. Your church may or may not recognize gay marriage. That is a religious issue. Do you think we should vote on whether to allow African Americans can marry whites? Until the 1960's more than 10 state had laws against this.
