Beginning this weekend, July 13th, you may place your brush/chipping materials at the curb. The DPW will begin their chipping schedule on Wednesday morning, July 17th. Kindly note, this is the start date and not necessarily the day your materials will be chipped. Branches or limbs over 8 inches in diameter cannot be chipped. Once your chipping has been collected please do not replenish it until August 10th. The DPW appreciates when you follow the below chipping protocols. For residents who are unaware of the chipping protocols or hire a lawn/tree service, the regulations are listed below. Share this information with your contractor. These regulations are in place to help keep Cranbury’s streetscape beautiful. Leaves will not be collected until the autumn. If you have leaf piles at the curb, please remove them. The DPW apologizes for any delays in the brush collection but truly appreciates your patience and cooperation as the streets get cleared. If you have any questions please call 609-395-0900 x229. Thank you. Chipping Protocols Here are the chipping regulations according to Township Code Chapters §69 and §121. They are listed on the violation notices that have been and will be delivered to offenders. It seems like a lot but after reading through, an understanding of how these regulations help aid the DPW personnel to move swiftly and efficiently becomes evident. 1. Residents must notify the DPW of requests for chipping services by the Monday before the third Wednesday of the month. 2. Brush should be placed curbside no sooner than the weekend preceding the third Wednesday of each month. 3. All material to be chipped should be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. by the scheduled collection date (3rd Wednesday of the month). Material placed curbside after the scheduled collection date or time will not be chipped. 4. All material should be stacked parallel to the curb or as near to the curb as possible, not in the street or on the sidewalk. Place the larger cut branch ends together so they follow the flow of traffic. Incorrect placement is considered to be in violation of the code and may not be collected. 5. Items must be placed parallel on the curb or along the street that is directly abutting your property line. 6. Branches exceeding 8" diameter cannot be chipped. Brush should be at least 3' in length. Although 3' is the minimum length, longer branches are much easier to chip. 7. Hedge clippings, twigs and small branches less than 3' (but not less than 1') must be bundled with string only (NO WIRE) and free of foreign debris, such as, stones, dirt, metal, sweepings and rakings. 8. No construction material or landscape construction material and debris, lumber, mulch, roots, stumps, or sand and soil at the curb will be collected. The intention is to help you understand these procedures of this valuable chipping service. Violation notices will continue to be sent to offenders. The first 3 notices are warning notices.
