Mayor's Update - November 6, 2020
Greetings Cranbury and Happy Friday!
I want to start by thanking everyone for making Halloween last week a memorable, safe and happy affair. There are many to thank for their help in making it all happen. I want to especially highlight and thank our new Police Chief Mike Owens and his officers. The CPD working closely with the CFD and First Aid squad did a first rate job in organizing and executing a great event. Kudos as well to the homeowners and businesses on Main Street who participated. We all came together and helped to make it a special event for the kids of our town and our neighboring communities. Good job Cranbury!
The election this past Tuesday went off without a hitch (if only we could say that for the country as a whole!) .This was due to the hard work and diligence of our Township Clerk Debbie Rubin, our Deputy Clerk Jean Golisano, and the poll workers, who despite the pandemic showed up and did what they had to. Our town often seems to run itself sometimes but in reality it’s the behind scenes work of public servants like these that make it all happen.
I also want to thank everyone in town who voted. Our turnout rate was of historic proportions. We are still awaiting the final local results to be released on Tuesday Nov. 10. I will not make any announcements on the election results until then.
Finally I have some really great news.
Yesterday the Governor submitted to the legislature the chosen list of proposed projects eligible for 50 % match funding from the New Jersey Library Construction Bond Act. Cranbury was on the list! Pending review from the legislature we should soon have the funds needed to break ground. I hope that very soon we will be able to finally break ground and start building the freestanding independent Library and community center that our town deserves.
OK Cranbury, thanks as always.
Try to not watch the news too much, have a great weekend and enjoy the warm weather.
