Post subject: Re: Protect Pennington African Cemetery
This is just one more example of total disrespect for the deceased and the descendants of those folks. Its all about greed. The developer clearly has no conscience nor respect for history or those folks who are buried in that cemetery. Its about time the politically correct legislators do something to protect cemeteries. Unfortunately this will be another lawsuit where he who has the most $$$ will prevail. This is a story for the 6 o'clock news but I bet no media outlet has the guts to publicize it!!! It seems that more and more most every day Greed prevails over Good-----

At what point will laws protect cemeteries. Too many times cemeteries have been dug up, people tossed aside and all for a developer. Often those cemeteries have history. Often those cemeteries have made money through selling plots. Cemeteries should be protected and sacred. This move is horrible. Our politicians stand by claiming they support people, rights and history yet actions like this continue to occur. I went to do family history and found the cemetery is now housing. No idea where the relatives were moved.

Post subject: Protect Pennington African Cemetery
The historic lives of the African American women, children and men, some war heroes, in the Pennington African Cemetery should matter. Sadly, that does not seem to be the case for developers John and Michelle Schragger, owners of J&M Schragger LLC, who reportedly rejected a full price offer for the property for sale adjacent to the Pennington African Cemetery. After years of legal battles between the developer and PAC volunteers, the Pennington community rallied to protect the history, honor and dignity of the African American Men, Women, Children and War Heroes buried in the Pennington African Cemetery. However, in a disgraceful maneuver, J&M Schragger reportedly rejected the full price offer and raised their price by $100,000.
The Pennington African Cemetery dates back to 1863, before slavery was abolished. We can be sure that the people buried in the Pennington African Cemetery had challenging lives and while we cannot change the difficult lives they lead, we can ensure that the people in the Pennington African Cemetery Rest In Peace. Please build awareness and take action to help bring this contentious issue to a respectful resolution. For more information, please go to...
