Sounds like a good time for a membership drive.

I know a couple EMTs - expired though as well as mine for the cert. Maybe we recert and see if we can help out.

Thanks for the info for contacts at the squad. Wil make contact Monday.

Lets just be honest and drop the ego's. It is a lie to claim that the squad is "100% volunteer". All patients are billed. Residents are not hard billed for the balance due after the insurance payment. 60 hours a week there are paid personel. The few volunteers that are left try to cover nights, weekends, and holidays. Lets also be honest and acknowledge that the volunteers occasionally are unable to get out an ambulance. Anyone with a scanner can verify this. There are times when someone calls 911 needing an ambulance (during the non paid crew hours) and no one responds. Scarey thought when you are the one bleeding or with pains in your chest. This post is not intended to "bash" volunteers it is intended to point out the truth.

The squad is managed by volunteers. No Cranbury resident gets a bill. The insurance company will be billed, but the squad eats the difference between the cost and insurance carrier.

Given the calls I am glad they supplement with a paid crew. Do we really need to be negative toward a group that helps us when we need it most?

"All volunteer ". The squad has a paid crew all day and charges for transports.

Applications are available at both the fire house, squad, seeing a member or go to town hall and they will give an application.

EMT-D is good but it does not take the place of an ALS unit. All police cars now carry Defibs so it is not necessary to have additional EMT-D vehicles. People should be outraged by this unit being taken out of service. If they truly understood the potential consequences they would be. This unit has saved the lives of residents over the years.

Local rescue squad should meet and discuss increase of EMT D first responders. The extra time for ALS response will make a significant difference in those few but life threatening medical calls.
