[quote="Guest"]You should never go swimming alone whether at a the beach or pool unless there is a life guard on duty. So many expert swimmers die each year by throwing "caution to the wind" and accidents can easily happen (dive too deep, hit your head, rip tides, etc). See article below from "The Times": Death of Old Bridge girl ruled a drowning by Christopher Dela Cruz/The Star-Ledger Saturday July 19, 2008, 2:25 PM The 14-year-old girl whose body was found Friday at the bottom of an apartment complex swimming pool drowned and foul play was not a factor in her death, Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Nicholas Sewitch said today. Sewitch said that determination was made after an autopsy was conducted on the girl, Sidra Chaudhry. Lifeguards discovered Chaudhry's body in the deep end of pool at the London Terrace Apartment complex when they arrived for work Friday morning. Chaudhry lived at the complex, located off Route 9, with her family. Her father had reported her missing on Thursday. Tenants said that while the pool closes at 7 p.m., some kids go swimming at night after lifeguards leave. A chain-link fence, slightly less than six feet high, surrounds the pool. Sewitch declined to comment on where the girl was going or who she might have been with when she left her home Thursday night. He also would not speculate how she may have gained access to the pool. Post subject: Re: Swimming and Beach
I had a scary experience when my 3 year old fell into the deep end of my backyard pool when she tried to retrieve a toy. Fortunately, I discovered the disappearance of her soon enough to pull her out.
