The car was heading toward Rt 130, hit a car that was parked on the street. Then it flipped. The driver (young male - probably HS or college age) crawled out. I'm not sure how he's doing, but he was able to talk to the first aid workers and the police on the scene. I don't know what caused it (hit gas instead of brake, on cell phone?), but he had to be going pretty fast and he probably hit the other car just right (or wrong!) in order to flip his car. The passenger side wheel was turned 90 degrees! The car that was hit went up the road about 30 feet, then stopped by hitting a telephone pole. Plainsboro Fire was backup at our fire station and responded, as all our trucks were at a fire on Brickyard Road at American Cabinet.
Post subject: Re: car flipped over on station road
Speeding here is always an issue. Ticketing by police, pedestrian crosswalks with signs, etc. are in use already. One of the most important things people can do is to drive 25 themselves. Many Cranbury residents are guiltly of speeding through town. I have caught myself on the north end of Main st doing 40 in the 25.
Also, if you are crossing at a pedestrian crossing, make yourself seen so cars know to stop. I had to literally walk into the street and stand there with my hand up and yell so the cars would stop. People need to pay more attention when they are driving. It needs to start with us.
Stay off your cell phone as well!

Just goes to show that speed is a problem on every street in the Village. People fly down Main Street at 50+ mph. School starts again next week and kids will be everywhere, on foot & bikes. What can we do as a community to slow people down?
I know the police is to start a sign campaign shortly, but is that enough? Do we have to wait until a child is hit crossing the street? I am not sure what the answer is, but public awareness of the speed through signs, banners, or homemade signs is at least a start.
lets do something productive to keep our kids safe!

The speed limit is 25 there. He must have been going a multiple of taht to do that kind of damage.
I was wondering the same. And, Station Rd. is not wide. Maybe he hit the gas paddle in stead of the brake?
