Read the reply more carefully. It is saying, "great," then the poster should agree to the bill proposing a stop to all funding for any organization that violates the ethics rules as opposed to the one under discussion that targets just ACORN. Whta's the problem with that?
The second paragraph seems pretty clear too |

I keep telling you people.
That it really doesn't matter all that much who you vote for anymore.
They all eventually suck up to the moneyed interests and screw the regular folks into the ground.
Democrat-Republican-Independent
Very little daylight between them.
Although, I can say that I do seem to sleep better at night with Obama at the helm than I could with that idiot-savant bush!!! |

So, great. If you really believe that you would be supportive of a bill that was proposed that said the government would withhold funding of any organization that commits a crime or violates ethics, etc. Yet not a single Republican supporting the ban of ACORN was willing to support that bill, nor most Democrats for that matter. None of them thought it practical and most knew it would exclude companies that patron them personally, and that it might bring our government to a near halt. But I'll get behind it if you will. It doesn't make sense to make the funding withdrawal specific to ACORN when what you promise is a principle applicable to others.
BTW, you said "if" it is typical of the organziation and yet there is no concrete evidence yet that this was more than an isolated incident. The people involved were fired. Most big organizations have bad apples. |

The poster a way up got it right. If we banned funding of any company with a scandal, that would include a majority of the major organizations that the government works with. It is a silly politically-fueled distraction to be talking about banning ACORN funding over this video, and incredibly arbitrary compared to other scandals that didn't result in funding loss. |

Incorrect.
Cheney was CEO of Halliburton.
Obama has no relationship with ACORN.

Neither does Cheney's Haliburton, which has repeatedly been found to have fraudulently accounted for more money by far than ACORN receives in total. yet we still pay it over 1,000 times what ACORN receives. So its okay to keep paying a company that steals more money than ACORN receives in total? |

I'm also not defending ACORN, but how disgusting are the people who even thought of the "trap" they fell into? Can you imagine them sitting around a table, having a conference on what the worst thing they could get ACORN to do would be. Gross... |

Define "recently", or name time period where Washington was "Scandal-Free". |

If we cut ACORN because of this scandal (not defending it in the least), then by the same principle we should cut and ban funding to any government funded entity or contractor who is found to have committed fraud or broken ethical rules or laws. But guess what, that means a majority of all government funded entities, including virtually all of the major ones. This list would include all the major defense contractors who make all our weapons, planes, vehicles, contracted security (that exceeds full-time troops in Iraq), etc. They all have been caught up in scandals at various times. The major ones have been caught again and again, and been convicted of felony crimes in some cases, and yet still get our money. So focusing exclusively on ACORN is both hypocritical and, apropos, a little like not seeing the forest for the acorn in a single tree. Personally hearing the Holt at least had the integrity to understand that actually gives him more credibility with me as a constituent. |

Given all the scandals that have come out of Washington recently, do you think we can vote to stop paying the government?
Seriously, if my parents were about to lose their home I'd consider sending them to Acorn. Even with their bone-headed behavior I feel bad because cutting their funding means that the shortage of housing couselors is now going to get even worse. |

Holt was one of five New Jersey Democrats to vote against the resolution to withdraw federal funding to ACORN. U.S. Reps. John Adler (D-Cherry Hill), Rob Andrews (D-Haddon Heights) and Steven Rothman (D-Fair Lawn) voted with the Republicans.
