The Fire Company is a private entity tax ID, registration, and tax filing. They are not a Fire Department. They are not employees of the town or even a board or commission. The township pays money and in return they get a service- Fire response. Just as the town hires a road crew and they get a road paved. If the Fire Co were a municipal entity I would agree. By your definition any company the town buys services from (all comes from tax payer money) they should have the right to control that business, who runs that business and the employees of that business. This ordinance is taking over a private non-profit business. The town is free to go paid or hire another Fire Co. if they can find one. I think the state also gives a donation or used to for the turnpike. Does that mean since the state gives tax payer money that they should control the fire company? Since the state gives tax payer money to the town should the state have control whether town hall employees are hired or fired and tell town hall what to do? Where does the line start and stop?
My one question is why do we want to change things? What is wrong with the fire company running their organization like they have been for years and years? I guess if the TC is all against it they should start going to fire school and suit up to fight fires. I would love to see that.
Not really worth bragging about. Middlesex county has become a urban wasteland. Taxes are lower in communities that are somewhat more rural to our south.
That's a pointless comparison. What matters is who has the best tax rate in the area you want to live, or to the area within our commuting profile. Cranbury does we'll versus our neighbors. Way cheaper from a tax perspective to live her and send kids to PHS or commute to the train station than the alternatives. If you don't mind living more rurally and don't have to worry about schools or commutes, go for it.
You fail to state how that was a “pointless comparison”. You give your reasoning for wanting to live here while stating the reasons others would like to leave. It’s funny how newer residents are not familiar with any areas south of here, and still believe we have the lowest taxes in the area.
Are you still living here? What do you like about Cranbury? Maybe you should move, get your 800K and then live in Nebraska.
Yes still here. 800k are you on drugs? Seriously I feel like I’m talking to a 10 year old. If not you must be a newbie not familiar with the area.
I’m sorry, looks like the available houses are well over a million.

I exactly gave the reasons the comparison was pointless. If you can't comprehend them, I can't help you.
Property taxes are far lower in Alabama than anywhere in NJ including further south. So why don't we all move to Alabama or why can't we get the exact same services and schools here paying the same property taxes as Alabama? The answer is the same as why some people are willing to pay more here than more rural communities to the south of us.

Or better yet, volunteer to help. They're your neighbors and, for the most part, they got involved to do what they think is right, even if their vision doesn't align with yours or mine.
I agree with your comment, except the library. Nice that our tax dollars were used to purchase the Wright property to “protect the vista to the west”.
Don't worry based on the TC meeting they will pave the remaining space for pickleball courts which will be another ballfield.

The posted 990's were a few years old. And they were very basic. Not a budget.

I don't see the fire company offering up any information on here like they were when they were up in arms trying to get everybody on their side to bash the TC and Administrator. i thought all you had to do was ask and they were willing to show all to see or will we have Kervan throw a hissy fit if we ask. it should be posted for transparency or they will tell you if you want to see then you need to come to the firehouse to see.

The Fire Co has a new chief’s car which anyone can plainly see around town and since the TC made no mention of it and the ordinance says they can use their own funds to purchase wherever they want however they want it seems there was nothing wrong to begin with. The ordinance only says they need to follow a bid process when using town funds.
Since you mention the Fire Co funds, how much do they have? Are those figures public?
How much do they have? Maybe the taxpayer is contributing too much?
I heard they have closer to 1.25 million in their coffers.
