Mayor's Update - January 3, 2024
Happy New Year Cranbury and belated Holiday greetings! The year 2024 is upon us and with that has come a few changes. With immense gratitude and joy, I accepted the role of Mayor of Cranbury at last night’s Township Committee reorganization meeting and Lisa Knierim was voted Deputy Mayor. Mrs Knierim is hard working, intelligent and very witty and I look forward to working closely with her as well as the rest of the amazing TC members. Township Committee member, Matt Scott, was sworn in to office for his third term and we thank him for stepping up to serve Cranbury once again.
Among some of the projected tasks this year, Cranbury is working towards installing it’s first inclusive park and enhancing the Village Park walking path by planting trees and installing benches. We will spend some time dedicated on researching activities and interests for the senior population, while preparing and keeping our eye out for the new State guidelines on the next phase of Affordable Housing requirements. Taking an approach to efficiency, we will be streamlining some of our boards and commissions and we will continue to work to encourage public participation and volunteerism. Community building has been my sincerest interest and I urge you all to look out for more scheduled opportunities to sit down with the Mayor and various TC members throughout the year.
At last night’s meeting resident volunteers were appointed to various positions on boards and commissions. I wanted to extend my deepest gratitude to all those who volunteer their time here in Cranbury, making it a productive and prosperous place to live. Here’s to a great 2024!
Eman El-Badawi
Mayor of Cranbury Township
