(TRENTON) – Legislation sponsored by Assemblyman Wayne P. DeAngelo and Assemblywoman Linda R. Greenstein to help preserve farmland and open space throughout the 14th Legislative District has been signed into law.

“Preserving open space and farmland is a smart investment that will pay off for generations to come,” said DeAngelo (D-Mercer/Middlesex). “We’re staving off development, protecting water quality and conserving precious land that benefits all residents.”

“Our farmland and open space provide a strong foundation for a strong economy and are a way of life for thousands of farming families,” said Greenstein (D-Middlesex/Mercer). “Preserving these lands will also allow us to retain our heritage and combat sprawl.”

The preservation funding was approved by voters in 2007. The laws – all approved 79-0 by the Assembly and 39-0 by the Senate - provide:

• $49.65 million for farmland preservation (A-3892). It’s sponsored by DeAngelo and includes money for farmland in Hamilton, Cranbury, Monroe, Plainsboro and South Brunswick.

• $66 million to buy land for recreation and conservation (A-3896). It’s sponsored by Greenstein and includes $9 million for Crossroads of the American Revolution projects in, among other places, Hamilton, Cranbury, Plainsboro and South Brunswick. It also includes other projects in each 14th District municipality - Hamilton, Jamesburg, Monroe Plainsboro, South Brunswick and West Windsor.

• $120.12 million for local government open space and park development projects (A-3897). It’s sponsored by DeAngelo and includes projects in Hamilton, West Windsor, Plainsboro and South Brunswick and for Mercer and Middlesex counties.

This is nothing more then Politicians trying to buy votes in an election year.

What else have Deangelo and Greenstein done for Cranbury in their present terms? Vote them out and put new crooks in to see what they will do. Keep voting out the incumbants until these politicians get the message and actually start working for us.

Agree and it's two sides of their mouth. DeAngelo is talking about staving off development, then turns around supports COAH, says we need to build to keep the economy going and support his employer the union.

Greenstein does the same thing. She promised to work and get legislation through changing COAH, that is why she abstained. She was going to work with our residents and TC. She has done nothing, but say things in the hope voters are blind.

Both candidates are really insulting us with their political games.

Don't let Greenstein and D'Angelo fool you.

This time last year D'Angelo supported the COAH bill which Cranbury fought so hard.

Greenstein abstained from the vote. She stated that this would give her leverage to help change COAH after the vote. She did nothing to change COAH. She cannot have it both ways, she abstained from helping Cranbury.

A message needs to be sent to Trenton by voting people like this out of the assembley that the people want true representation, not the typical politics of New Jersey.
