DeANGELO: CHRISTIE SUPPORT FOR NOVEMBER SCHOOL ELECTIONS 'ESSENTIAL' FOR BIPARTISAN SUCCESS
(HAMILTON TWP.) - Assemblyman Wayne DeAngelo on Wednesday said he will renew his effort in the new Legislature to move New Jersey's oft-ignored April school elections to the November ballot after hearing Gov.-elect Chris Christie reassert his support for the plan during a call-in program Tuesday night on New Jersey 101.5 FM.
DeAngelo (D-Mercer) is a prime sponsor of bipartisan legislation that would have done away with the state's futile April school elections, moving races for school boards to a new, nonpartisan section of the November General Election ballot. The bill (A-15) passed the Assembly in May 2008 and was released from the Senate Education Committee last December.
