Salary Increases Guest

Some Cranbury Township employees could see up to a 2 percent salary increase in 2012, however committee members and the mayor have taken a cut.
There was $14,550 in the budget available for salary increases, but only $13,310 is being used, according to Township Administrator and Finance Director Denise Marabello. The increases do not apply to contract positions, eliminating positions including construction and police.

Nope I think the definition of a good job is providing the town with the services it desires in a reasonable and cost efficient manner. Believe it or not this is not about you. |

The taxes raised have not gone up, the rate has due to the devalued property. The overall amount raised by taxes is almost the same this year as last year. I believe the budgets have actually decreased from a few years ago. So if you refuse to understand, I have some suggestions:
1) go to the TC with areas to cut
2) get a petition to cut things that may be seen as good community events by the TC such as fireworks, Cranbury day, drug free fair. Then see how many residents agree with you or the TC.
3) go to every warehouse and ask them to not appeal. If they don't appeal the town value does not go down as much and the rate does not have to be modified.
Lastly, I think the TC has done well changing the dates of raises going into effect, linking pay to performance, and cutting their own wages. When was tge last time you heard of officials cutting their pay? My guess is that aside from fire and first aid the TC is the next most time consuming volunteer position. |

They have consistently reduced the budget each year for the last few years. So thank you TC for lowering our costs. If you want to blame them personally for a national and regional reduction in ratables impacting your taxes, that's your right but I don't most people would agree with you. And the fact that they kept raises to a subset of people at 2% and lowered their own pay is only further proof of their commitment to fiscal responsibility. |

R we could outsource every single township poisition save maybe one business manager to manage the contracts.o |

This is exactly the kind of short-sighted thinking that has become emblematic of the tea party. Cranbury is no place for this kind of slash and burn politics! |

Outsource every position except one in the township office? Why stop there, let's really change Cranbury and outsource public works; maybe the police; maybe become a fire district and let all our volunteers relax at home for a change. While we're at it, let's regionalize our school like West Windsor wanted us to do many years ago. There are some who would agree with most of these concepts, but not me and not if Cranbury is to remain one of the most desired towns in Central NJ. Last comment - people complain about the township tax, but how many of you complainers attended the open budget meetings and attended the school board budget hearings? I never hear anyone complaining about the school budget or increase in taxes, which is 4 times (in dollars) what the township increase is. |
