I was disappointed last night. There was a large contingent of residents who showed up opposing the ordinance. Mr. Mulligan tried to counter each one by saying it was not the intent and Mr. Johnson was visibly annoyed at the residents who opposed the ordinance. The only ones who showed up supporting it were from 4 seasons who due to their own Home owners association are not even subject to this ordinance. I really feel the TC erred last night and will not support either Mr. Mulligan or Mr. Johnson.
Only Mr. Taylor opposed it. I was also disappointed in the attitude of some of the 4 seasons people. I heard very nasty comments directed toward Mr. Taylor sitting next to a few of them. One even told me they'll vote him out. I responded by saying he was just re-elected last month. Their response was simply oh, how long does he have? They had no clue about our town or community and I have only lived here 3 years. |

Disappointed indeed. I felt that Mulligan, Cook and Johnson were going to approve this new ordinance prior to the meeting and whatever comments were voiced. Interesting I did not see any long time Cranbury residents who now live in Four seasons at this meeting, only those who are relatively new to Cranbury. The surprise is that this new ordinance will not "improve" the look of the Chaneny and Hagerty properties one bit. They only need to cut the grass, keep the fence together and make sure there are doors and window panes in place. The only way this property will change is new owners knocking the buildings down and then we will see how Four Seasons residents react to what ever new development is proposed. When they purchased their Four Seasons homes they saw that they would be living next to or passing these properties, so it was their choice! If the real estate market was still booming these properties would have been redeveloped years ago. |

Are you sure you attended the same meeting I did last night? I heard several residents who do not live in four seasons speak in favor of this and one women a long time resident who lives on north main street next to an empty home not being cared for who also supported this. |

Yes, I was at the meeting. Let me clarify was that the majority of the supporters were from Four Seasons and a few residents outside of this development. The majority of the people against this new ordinance live outside the Four Seasons development. |

I was there and the person you mention and others recommended an ordinance for vacant and unoccupied buildings. They did not support a full town wide ordinance. Further, they raised a number of concerns over the language. |

And I'd like to thank Jay for standing up and opposing this ordinance. |

Jay used his common sense and voted No. He did not pander to a few misguided folks from Four Seasons who had no clue Cranbury ever existed before they moved here. And by the way, any of the old timers from Cranbury who have moved to Four Seasons did not endorse this ordinance nor attend the meeting. The passing of an ordinance to single out six properties[so we are told] is absurd! Just wait until those properties are sold and the new neighbor businesses move in. I'll bet the present silence of Hagerty and Cheney will be sorely missed! |
