I do not know who is running for school board, but I heard the TC candidates this year are:

Dan Mulligan is running with Tom Connolly

Glenn Johnson is running with Joe Bounvonlanta (sorry if the last name is misspelled).

There are two seats open and as far as I can tell no hot button topics.

I think this year we have some good choices and thank them all for running.

Interesting info, thanks. Is it that there are 2 tickets (one R, one D)? Or is it that each candidate will run an individual campaign? I had not heard that Glenn and Dan are each running for reelection with a running mate.

There are two seats up Dan and Glenn. So there are two Dems and two Reps seeking the seats.

I understand that part - was wondering whether the 2 Ds and the 2Rs are running together (as two tickets) or if all 4 candidates are running separate campaigns. I don't know whether the ticket approach would help or hurt at least one incumbent.

Sorry. I have no idea how they'll run. The Republicans usually run a joint campaign so I could see Tom benefiting from Dan. The Dems don't usually run joint campaigns and I am not sure if Glenn and Joe benefit the same way. I am not sure if Dan benefits or not from a joint campaign.

The Democrats in town do run joint campaigns and its why Taylor was reelected last year since everyone likes Dave Cook. This year its 4 candidates for 2 seats. With Johnson and Mulligan being the incumbents.

Both parties have long run semi-joint campaigns. All this amounts to is the ads and signs basically as in the end it's the top two vote-getters that count regardless of party of joint candidacy.

There is local precedent for voters picking candidates from each party despite joint candidacies. In fact, that's exactly what happened when Dave and Jay ran the first time when they were in opposite parties and each had a second member of their own parties running with them. Which is why the comment about Jay getting elected because of Dave is silly and sounds like someone's sour grapes. Dave and Jay were both incumbents and like with most elections incumbents usually win. Neither alternative candidate had much history with local government. It's not rocket science.

Seriously, if this is what the Republicans are going to do again then a good TC member in Dan may lose. Mr. Taylor was bashed by a few hardcore Republicans and then beat the TC candidates handily. Despite letters to the paper by the Rep candidates last year stating the primary showed voters wanting change.

Dan is a good member of the TC, but if the same people come out again with the nastiness then he'll be painted with the same brush by them and our town will lose.

These small town politics are not appealing to new comers to Cranbury.

What happened to voting for someone for their character, capabilities, and competence. It seems more of a popularity contest, twisted with party line rhetoric.

I applaud those who stand up to run and lead. We should give them all a hand and a lot less criticism.
