Tickets are being issued, be careful!
My neighbor just received a ticket in the mail from East Windsor for the red light camera on route 130.
She is a careful driver I know this personally. Never received a ticket before she said. She says she didn't go through any red light, and is going to fight the ticket.
Maybe error on the side of assuming the camera is not set up correctly, and stop in the yellow light as soon as you see it may help. Just be careful you don't get hit from the rear.

Any idea where the camera is? Usually, a sign about the camera is posted near the intersection.

It's probably the intersection of Route 130 and Dutch Neck Road (where the McDonalds is). There has been a camera there for months that is clearly not properly calibrated as it keeps going off at the wrong time and the flash is distracting. I haven't received a ticket there but don't trust the camera since I have seen it flash in my rear view mirror in the middle of green lights or while waiting to turn left in the middle of green arrow lights. Your friend should definitely fight it.

It's BS. Don't run the red light and you won't get a ticket.

Simply not true. I haven't personally been the victim of one of these but I have seen first hand that the calibration of the one at Route 130 and Dutch Neck was far off and snapping cars that passed through green lights that hadn't even turned yellow and cars that were legally turning left on the green left arrow. And I have been a passenger in a car where someone was ticketed by a mis-calibrated camera. I also know someone who fought a ticket and won when they proved to the judge the cameras were off. It does happen. If you want to delude yourself that the technology is perfect and that you have nothing to fear if you obey all the traffic laws, that's your prerogative but don't mistake your opinion for reality. I also have no beef with use of the cameras in general. Catching true red light runners isn't a bad thing. But the technology implementation right now is flawed.
